Safia Minney Wins Green Pioneer PEA Award
Safia Minney MBE, wins the PEA (People, Environment, Achievement) award as ‘Green Pioneer’, sponsored by Weleda on Friday 22 October, 2021. This was the 11th P.E.A. Awards in association with Citrix, to celebrate the UK’s leading sustainability trailblazers and changemakers behind the products, services and businesses leading change.

What Safia said on winning the award:
“It’s an honour to be acknowledged for my work by the PEA Awards as ‘Green Pioneer’. It’s 30 years since I founded People Tree which pioneered the first organic cotton and Fair Trade supply chains. Today, I’m working with dynamic teams at REAL Sustainability, an information platform on sustainable living and leadership, with Business Declares to help companies respond to the climate, ecological and social emergency – and with the amazing CPRE, the Countryside Charity. The paradigm has truly shifted – thanks to citizens, campaigning organisations and purpose-led businesses. We have woken to the urgent need for radical action and to put people and nature central to new systems – women and indigenous peoples’ rights, living wage, freedom of association, a global carbon tax and stop to all fossil fuel subsidies are what I’m hoping to hear at COP26. We need a Just transition now.”
